Supporting the Marine Life Center

The mission of the Marine Life Center has never been more important. We have an awesome responsibility to protect our local marine environment. Protection is best achieved by helping our community – See, Touch, & Explore what is beneath the surface. The Marine Life Center provides this opportunity both at the Center and on our local beaches.

Your donation helps the Aquarium educate our community about our Puget Sound and the challenges facing it by:

• Providing marine science education to over 70,000 visitors
• Building new exhibits like "Eel Grass Meadow Aquarium" and repairing exhibits.
• Offering opportunities to marine biology students to receive real life work experience.
• Facilitate the training for volunteer Beach Naturalists who teach beach visitors how to enjoy the animals without hurting them.

Your generous support is important – a gift of any amount is appreciated and can make a difference:

	$50	~	Sends a group of 25 school children to a one hour marine education program.
		~	Or thanks volunteers by providing their refreshments and supplies.
		~	Or buys herring, shrimp, crab and krill for Center animals.  Animals eat daily.
	$100	~	Covers cost of animal collection for one day.
	$250	~	Maintenance and repair of the observation pool. Close cracks in cement around observation pool and remove rust stains coming from rebar in cement.
	$500	~	Buys one year of supply of chemicals to test seawater quality in MLC aquariums.  Squalicum Harbor (marina is the source of the aquarium seawater.
		~	Or buys an octopus for the Center, if one is available.
	$1,000	~	Purchases new equipment vital to Marine Life Center’s life support system.  Like scientific equipment to measure salinity and dissolved oxygen.
		~	Or a new chiller that keeps the seawater in aquariums cool in the summer.  Present chiller is 10 years old.
